Episode 70 - How your brain's bias towards easy kills your follow-through

Welcome to this episode of the managing the smart mind podcast with Master Certified Coach Else Kramer, a.k.a. Coach Kramer.

Hello wonderfully smart human,

Welcome to the third mini-cast giving you a sneak peak into my new membership community, Shamelessly Smart.

So far we’ve covered finding your Big Thing, as well as focusing on the here and now and actually getting things done through Impact Projects.

But there is an elephant in the room we need to address.

Because knowing what you’re working towards, and what to work on next isn’t enough.

If it was, there wouldn’t be so many unfinished project skeletons in your project closet.

All smart humans start their trajectory towards their goals with the best of intentions - but many of them get waylaid pretty quickly.

Why?

Well, there are a couple of reasons, but what I want to talk about today is your brain’s bias towards EASY.

Yup.

You heard that right.

Because it’s so easy for you to learn new things, to be the best in class, to make progress faster than everyone else, your brain has become a bit of a spoilt brat.

It expects everything to be easy.

As in: it expects that if you put in the work, you will get the results.

Now if you’re always operating in your comfort zone that is most definitely the case.

But if you want to stretch yourself…not so much.

You may put in the work and get disappointing results.

And your brain will make that mean that something’s gone wrong.

It will tell you that you’re being stupid (ha!), that this was a bad idea in the first place, that you should follow this much better strategy, go after another shiny object - pretty much ANYTHING it can come up with that sounds appealing and mildly plausible.

So the first step in becoming amazing at follow-through is rewiring your mind to expect and accept the hard.

To say goodbye to easy (because, let’s face it, easy forever is way too boring).

You need to learn how to move through the discomfort and disappointment in a healthy way and keep going.

And that is exactly what you’ll do in Shamelessly Smart.

You’ll get all the tools and coaching to rewire your brain so that you can follow-through on the things that really matter to you.

So sign up already! It’s currently available at a very special founder’s price that won’t ever be offered again.

Go to www.coachkramer.org/shamelessly-smart to get all the deets and sign up.

Have a wonderful day,

Else a.k.a. Coach Kramer
