Here’s how to diffuse anxiety and worry in a playful, creative manner

Your brain is wired to worry.

It’s specialised in worst case scenarios.

All the ways in which the proverbial house could burn down, your loved ones could die, your business could crash.

The planes you’ll miss, the soufflés that won’t rise, the school reunion where your old bully will start making stupid jokes again.

So let’s use that skill of visualising outcomes - but this time flip it around.

Instead of being insanely resourceful and creative in dreaming up nightmare endings, this weekend, I want you to try this.

Dream up the craziest fun outcomes for whatever you usually stress out about.

It’s a fun, light way to diffuse your anxiety.

Worried about your career?

=> Dream up 20 better-than-best case scenarios of how everything will work out.

Frustrated about your fitness?

=> Fantasize about fifteen ways in which your body is the absolute best.

Incessantly anxious about your kids and all the things that could happen to them?

=> Spend at least five minutes visualising them as incredibly joyful grown-ups

We spend a lot of our time in a trance, fantasizing about dark and dreadful possibilities.

This weekend, simply notice whenever you do this - and take yourself to a lighter place instead.

It’s actually a lot of fun.
